She said: ‘When I started to read the book, I said, "This is the closest thing to my life I ever seen. It’s gotta be me."

Abilene’s lawyer, Edward Sanders, stated: 'The Help’s big appeal is to white people. It makes them feel good because it’s about a white woman who reaches across the racial divide to help poor black servants.
